The College of Physicians issued an alert informing its members that “a young woman who was not a doctor and had no relevant medical training succeeded in confusing medical personnel in hospitals and clinics.”
According to the statement, Annie Ung claimed that she was a general practitioner resident at a hospital in the Montreal area. She also claimed to be a manager in medical clinics, the statement said. The professional order asks its members to report anything concerning Ung to an investigator assigned to the file.
âBy pretending to be a doctor, she also managed to complete internships in medical clinics on two occasions and to appear in a hospital setting with a medical uniform, that is to say a white coat and a stethoscope, and to perform consultations, âsays the College of Physicians statement. He also wrote that he “takes all measures to prevent Ms. Ung from using or pretending to be a doctor.”
âA lawsuit for the illegal practice of medicine has been filed against Ms. Ung and we ask you to be vigilant to prevent any act of usurpation on her part.
