Vidant Medical Center adjusts emergency room visit restrictions

Greenville, NC – August 11, 2021 – As Vidant Health continues to respond to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic in North Carolina, we are taking action to keep everyone safe. Vidant remains vigilant on its process of selecting all visitors, entry conditions and visit restrictions by department.
In response to the increased spread in the community and the increased risk of hospitalization posed by the Delta variant, the Vidant Medical Center is adjusting its policy of emergency department visits. To ensure the safety of patients, families and team members, beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, visitors will not be permitted in the emergency hall or waiting areas. Emergency room patients can have a healthy adult visitor screened and masked at any time after the patient has been placed in a room, as long as the patient is not COVID positive.
It remains vitally important that community members continue to apply safety measures such as washing their hands, wearing a mask and avoiding large gatherings.
