Uniformity Labs Launches Ti-6Al-4V Grade 23 Titanium Alloy
FREMONT, Calif., May 17, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Engineering materials company Uniformity Labs (Uniformity) announces the availability of Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) titanium alloy powder for L-PBF. Developed by an in-house team of world-renowned materials scientists and 3D printing innovators, Uniformity Labs Ti64 Grade 23 exhibits the best mechanical performance, surface roughness, and uniformity across the entire build bed, alongside significantly improved throughput. Typical builds offer an average density of 99.96% as-printed and are 1.5x to 2.0x faster, depending on machine and part geometry, compared to same builds made at the same layer thickness using standard powder and machine settings.
Ti64 Grade 23 is an alloy of titanium, aluminum and vanadium. The material has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is biocompatible, making it ideal for medical and high-performance applications, including automotive and aerospace.
“The application of Uniformity Ti64 Grade 23 delivers excellence and repeatability in material properties to our customers who need parts that perform to the highest standards under extreme conditions,” said Adam Hopkins, Founder and CEO of Uniformity. “Our powders offer robust mechanical properties, low surface roughness and high print yield, in addition to significantly increasing machine throughput.”
The availability of this powder follows Uniformity’s recent announcement of a collaboration with AddUp, aimed at maximizing the productivity of Uniformity’s Ti64 Grade 23 ELI alloy using the FormUp350 L-PBF printer from AddUp. This partnership targets regulated manufacturing in healthcare and aerospace using metal additive manufacturing technologies.
