Logitech combines mechanical keys with color – Pickr
One of the downsides of mechanical keyboards is that they can appear dull and gray. You can’t say that about the latest version of Logitech, however.
While the classic mechanical keyboard is known for letting every keystroke go, it isn’t known for its personality. Shades of gray and black are the norm for mechanical keyboards, sometimes with a touch of white, although little in between.
Usually focused on gamers, but more recently rolled out to office folks looking for a keyboard that gets all the hits, mechanical keyboards typically only find bright colors when paired with bright stripes and to individual LEDs, illuminated with a programmable color key that operates via software.
However, Logitech appears to be changing that with the addition of a series.
Released as “Pop”, it is a line of desktop peripherals that add color to the mechanical keyboard design, while also supporting customizable keys that support interchangeable keys. Essentially, there are four shortcut keys you can program and an emoji menu key, with eight different plastic keys in the box, letting you decide what each key looks and does.
Personalization is only part of the package, with much of the colors arriving in one of three color sets and also being wireless.
The keyboard is just one part of the package, with Logitech also unveiling a matching compact mouse and desk mat, extending that color to a desk and a computer or tablet.
“The Logitech Studio Series embraces the originality of each individual,” said Irfan Kachwalla, chief designer of Pop Keys at Logitech.
“We wanted to create products as expressive as our users, with great personalities and without compromising on productivity,” he said.
Available to work with Bluetooth or Logitech’s Bolt receiver (no Unifying key here), the only thing that seems to be missing is the backlight on the Pop keyboard itself. However, it will come with a fairly affordable price for a wallet for a wireless mechanical keyboard, arriving in Australia for a recommended retail price of $ 129.95, alongside the $ 49.95 Pop mouse and desk mat. Logitech at $ 34.95.
