Hyundai Elevator and LG Electronics Promote Cutting-Edge Technologies to Connect Robots and Smart Buildings
Hyundai Elevator and LG Electronics announced on August 22 that they had signed a memorandum of understanding for robot interworking and smart building solutions projects at LG Science Park in Gangseo-gu on August 20.
Through the agreement, the two companies will promote a business of smart building solutions that connect elevators, autonomous robots, home network systems and technical cooperation that combines previous signaling technologies from LG Electronics.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from two companies, including Song Seung-bong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, and Kwon Soon-hwang, BS Division Head (CEO) of LG Electronics.
The elevator industry, whose speed was seen as a measure of technological prowess, is moving towards electric mobility with the development of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, including artificial intelligence, and new business opportunities are developing.
By automatically recognizing visitor information, it quickly extends its scope to various areas, including elevator calls, parking location confirmation, door opening, home automation, delivery by link with service robots and janitorial services.
“The convergence of the open elevator application programming interface (API), autonomous robots from LG Electronics and smart building solutions will create synergy in various fields such as apartments, hotels and buildings,” said Song Seung-bong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator. “The two companies will jointly open a new market called ‘Vertical e-Mobility’ in the future.”
“Through collaboration in business areas such as robots, signage, and home and building solutions, we will find valuable services in various spaces and deliver differentiated experiences to customers,” said Kwon Soon- hwang, head of BS division at LG Electronics.
Based on this MoU, Hyundai Elevator plans to develop an open elevator API that can be connected to various applications, while launching high-end elevators that can produce various spaces and digital experience by combining signaling technologies. earlier such as OLEDs.
