American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Discovery Education Partner to Unlock Student Success Through Engineering

SILVER SPRING, Md., Dec. 2, 2021 / 3BL Media / – Discovery Education and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) have launched Engineering Dreams, an educational initiative designed to engage K-12 students across national in today’s biggest challenges while helping them unlock future success through engineering. Engineering Dreams offers educators and students a variety of interactive, standards-aligned learning resources to inspire the next generation of creative thinkers, risk takers, and ethical problem solvers.
To help every community celebrate the “E” in STEM, Engineering Dreams offers educators a video topic series, “Problem Solutions for Good,” which explores engineering-based solutions to local community challenges that hold the promise of a positive global impact.
“ASME champions equitable access to unique and impactful K-12 STEM content and experiences that are intentionally designed to reach chronically under-represented students in STEM,” said the Executive Director / CEO of ASME, Tom Costabile, PE “This collaboration with Discovery Education is a critical fulcrum in ASME’s overall DCI strategy to foster a more diverse and inclusive pipeline of students willing to pursue engineering studies. Many of our talented and diverse members are storytellers who can fill a critical void in performance by sharing real-life examples of engineers and engineers resonating with students.
From spotlight on innovators to classroom activities, the free, standards-aligned learning resources available at Engineering Dreams offer educators new ways to engage students in engineering. Additionally, the Student Resources help all learners to think like an engineer by exploring the lives of real people with real stories of using STEM skills to improve lives.

The Coalition brings together a range of industries around common goals of empowering educators to effectively teach STEM in the classroom, fostering and promoting quality education, and training the next generation of researchers in STEM solutions in intentionally emphasizing the promotion and improvement of racial and gender equity. . Representing a range of industry sectors, the STEM Careers Coalition seeks to prepare students for the future of work by providing equitable access to digital content and experiences that engage students in education, build foundational STEM knowledge, and develop essential skills students need for college and career success.
